Stone Motorsports Returns After A Long Winter
|
|
|
|
Stone Motorsports has been hard at it since Vegas! Assembling and reworking new and current Victory Family cars has left no time for our own. And they say time flies when you are having fun ,how true that is. Before we knew what was going on we had less then 10 days to assemble our own car to make the first Tulare race. If you know us here you know that is nothing new for the boys ,and what would make this year any different! Finishing the car at around 2:30 the day of the race left us with around 25 min. to scale and set up.
Making it to Tulare, missing hot laps left no time for a shake down so the heat race would be our test . Taking 2nd in the heat with literally a new car was a surprise. Having only a few issues like a loose break line and a bad ground wire was not to bad.
The Main would see us fishing 2nd behind Victory Family Member Brian Cass and would give Victory Chassis a first and second in Tulares opener.

So, they say 3rd times a charm ...... NOT!!!!! 3rd trip back to Tulare didn't end the way we hoped it would. The heat race went all our way with a win that would put the mood in high hopes for the main.
Main would see us starting outside front row and that by itself should have been a sign of what was coming... with history never being good to us from the front. Getting into lapped cars and racing fellow Victory Family driver Brian Cass would find a spun car shooting back across the track to end up right there in front of us and BANG into the pits we go. Fast work from the Stone Motor Sports crew and Robert Hamm put us back on the track before the end of the yellow. Not all was good ...the crash would leave us with a damaged steering box and no power steering left with 20 long laps ahead. Restarting 22nd , we were just looking to not end up with a DNF. Like always Paul seams to work a hurt car better than a well one and started picking cars off one by one. Well ,lets say fighting our way back to 4th left the night and the 3rd trip not all that bad ...and one hell of a work out for Stone!

Newest Victory Famliey Member Jim DiGiovanni
|
Stone Motorsports made a showing at Chowchilla Speedway for the first time
this year along with new Victory Chassi Familey Member Jim DiGiovanni. Jim
dayvewed his new Victory and seemed to be plaesed with it. Working out some of
the new bugs will take a race or two but we'll get there.
Heat race would see us starting near the back and got a black flag for a
windownet.
Main would see us starting last for the second time tonight and with a one lane
track made us make the high line work and some how pulled out our first main
event win for the year.
